KOREAN BBQ GLAZE

Ingredients:

  • 1 tablespoon grapeseed or canola oil
  • 2 tablespoons quachong, Korean chili paste (available at Asian market)
  • 1 tablespoon garlic, sliced (3-4 cloves without sprout)
  • 1 cup tamari (gluten free) or soy sauce if gluten okay
  • 5 cups water
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch, dissolved in 5 tablespoons water

Method:

Place oil in a medium sauce pan on moderate heat; add quachong (chili paste) and garlic, and cook till garlic is translucent and aromatic. Add tamari, water, and sugar. Bring to boil. Add cornstarch slurry slowly while whisking to incorporate. Reduce heat to simmer and cook 45 minutes. Serve.
